| The Children’s School of Music follows the Harmony Road Music method and philosophy. We believe that this method of providing music lessons is the most effective available. Our music instructors are trained and qualified in teaching the Harmony Road method for piano lessons, keyboard lessons and guitar lessons.
The Harmony Road Curriculum provides a holistic approach to music instruction. Courses are carefully constructed for children to learn the basic building blocks of music. Children experience musical concepts and absorb patterning through ear training, solfege singing, solo and ensemble keyboard playing, rhythmic activities, movement, and music creativity. As skills grow, students will become comfortable with note reading, keyboard performance, chording, improvisation, and composing. Skills such as transposition and playing jazz music are as equally accessible to our students as playing traditional, classical music. |

Harmony Road courses are specifically designed for each age group, emphasizing the learning styles, behavior, and comprehension accessible at each age.
Although learning is customized for each age group, children may enter the program at any age. While starting music lessons at the pre-K level is ideal for a child’s development, The Children’s School of Music offers beginning courses for older elementary-aged children as well.
Parents also participate and share in the group experience. Parental involvement is a key factor of a student’s success. Parents or primary care givers are guided in methods to keep the family in a musical “mode” at home. Careful layering of skills and concepts ensure individual success and confidence for both parents and students.

The Harmony Road program is a comprehensive music program designed to help children discover the world of music through motivating materials and “hands on” activities which develop the whole child.
Harmony Road Curriculum
We offer a few variations on this standard curriculum, such as Baby Harmony, Guitar, and Singer’s Club. We determine placement within the curriculum both a child’s age and skill level.
