Baby Harmony & Toddler Tunes
- A parent or other designated adult must attend and participate in classes with your child.
- The music class should be a special time the parent and child can share. Siblings are welcome to come along and may play in the playroom during class sessions.
- Try to participate side by side with your child and leave instructions and discipline to the teacher.
- This encourages good listening skills and independence on your child’s part. Activities will be repeated and reinforced, and there will be adequate time to achieve our goals.
- Keep a positive attitude – children will have good and bad days (just as we do!) A positive, enthusiastic attitude will help keep the learning experience enjoyable.
- When assisting children to play instruments, allow them time to manipulate the instrument on their own rather than solely relying on physical manipulation of their hands to play the instrument. Children will only learn motor skills that they themselves initiate and complete independently!
All Other Classes
- A parent or designated adult is required to attend class with Music in Me, More Music in Me, Harmony Road, Young Musician and Keyboard Prep students who are under the age of 10. This aids in at-home follow-up and creates a shared responsibility for success and enjoyment.
- Parents are encouraged to use the word “daily music session” instead of “practice”. We encourage parents to provide a quiet place for daily music lessons starting with short time periods (perhaps 10 min. at a time) and review (sing, beat, play) varied activities as in class. Time with increase as the child’s focus and skills grow.
